Sketchbook Saturday Week #5: The View

Tammie Painter featured an intriguing prompt that I could not resist. I was inspired with the following words on some possibilities of subject matter; …to be creative with “a view that’s stuck in your head from a vacation or other life event. If you want to get more metaphysical, why not try to draw the view that floats in your mind while you meditate or an image from a vivid dream.”

When it comes to dreams

My heart has always wondered

If I can go back

*My creative effort has to do with a dream of one day getting back to the Rockies. I drew the mountains inside my eye, where they will always remain in their majestic beauty. The image is more stylized than realistic.

  • Mixed media: pencil, pencil crayons and fine liner black ink (that started to run out as I worked).

About Olga

I have always had an affinity for artistic endeavors and the beauties of nature. The power of the word combined with photography have become my creative spark.

  1. Wow! So talented, the drawing and the haiku. I love the way the two sentences work.

Beautiful, Olga. The Rockies are pretty spectacular. I am fortunate to be part of them.

Thank-you, Mary. Yes, you are a fortunate soul to have them in your own backyard. I’ve had the pleasure of visiting Vancouver three times in my younger days, but the cash flow was always tight and never got to experience all of the possibilities. I do know Stanley Park very well. Ha!ha!

How wonderful. Your art has an abstract dreamlike quality that is echoed in your poem.

Thank-you, Suzanne. Love how you described my art piece. That’s the way I saw it also, as abstract and dreamlike.

I’ve been thinking about it on and off since I looked at it. It really inspires me to get back to drawing but as yet I am still to put pen to paper – the digital world has me in thrall.

When I saw the posting, I already had a basic sketch that had been sitting for awhile. Just had to develop it a bit concerning my theme. I know the digital world can take one away from drawing. I was glad to get back. Gave me a sense of who I use to be!

It;s the most wonderful thing about dreams we remember, we can revisit them when ever we want in the minds eye. Another great haiku and image – so creative.
