Sketchbook Saturday: Week#9-Repetition

Curved line creation

Imitating nature’s web

Patterns form magic

  • The challenge is: ” To take a single shape, form, word, image, whatever, and repeat it throughout your sketch…Try to make your repetitions flow together in some sort of composition.”
  • Below you will see some of the stages I went through. At one point when adding the pink background, I started to panic that I had made the wrong choice. Then I remembered the words of Bob Ross, “there are no such things as mistakes, only happy accidents.”
  • The top final product had a few sparkles added for a photographic effect to represent the sparkle of magic.

                                    Pencil…………  pencil crayon/marker………scary pink!

Thank-you, Nina. So pleased that you enjoyed my creation. It certainly takes a steady hand and a gentle sweep of the pencil to get the form to flow. I was starting to get rusty. Ha ha!

  10. This turned into far more than a doodle, enhanced as it is by the haiku and the glitter – I love a bit of glitter!

The original idea came from a doodle. I always like to go the extra step to make it photographic worthy. Thank-you for the visit, Sandra. Hope you have a great day. We’re getting another snowstorm here in Canada. Winter just won’t let spring smile.
