Sudbury Garlic Festival
Ukrainian roots
Honoring freedom struggles
Across the ocean
*Attended the Sudbury Garlic Festival for the first time today (August 28, 2016). Such a wonderful experience! My haiku was inspired by the opening ceremonies where the speaker asked the community to continue to remember and support the struggles of fellow Ukrainians across the ocean.
*The Canadian Garlic Festival was established in 1991 and is hosted by the Ukrainian Seniors in downtown Sudbury. The event runs for one day in the summer and offers garlic dishes done in a variety of ways including garlic desserts.
Thank you Olga! This is a perfect entry 😊

Beautiful and historic city. I was there for a weekend visit near the end of July. It inspired a haiku/visual post.
