dVerse #2-Quadrille #24-Twenty-four Word Challenge: Beyond

The challenge is to include all 24 prompt words in a 44-word quadrille.

Here are the words:
dance, lull, bubble, grin, melt, shimmer, twist, skip, green, breeze, spill, rose, journey, jar, leaves, open, shadow, cloud, spark, cue, breath(e), scar, curl, whisper.

 

Beyond

Journey beyond shadows and clouds

Where grinning bubbles openly dance, twist, melt

With the shimmer of a breeze

 

Green leaves never curl,

But still whisper scars of the past

Solitary rose in a jar

Sparks sudden, skipped breath

 

Tragic lull

Glass spills on cue

    LOVE this, Olga. Isn’t that just the most astounding thing about words? We’ve written poems of just 44 of them, with these 24 being the same, and yet they are all so different in tone, sound and meaning. I love that. Thanks for taking up the extra challenge! You rocked it!

      Thanks, Bjorn. A very new challenge for me and actually turned out exciting to attempt. We’ll see if my muse accepts the upcoming 25-word event. 🙂

    The core of creation in poetry is the selection of words that come to me in the semi-void of half sleep. I confess not to be a poet in the prompt sense of it. You seem to adapt well and include all the words. All writing leads us to be better at our craft.

    Hi Ron. Thanks for commenting. I’m not a true poet per se, but I do enjoy playing with words. Still learning. That’s why I like dVerse. It expands my horizons. This free verse just came to me with little effort. Floating in the ether of inspiration. I find if I struggle too much with the words, there is no joy to writing. Cheers!
