Cee’s Black & White Photo Challenge: Things Made With Wood

Broken down boat in Killarney, Ontario.

Hand-made replica of a birch bark canoe displayed on a wall in Ottawa.

Old-fashioned piano displayed at the Northern Ontario Railroad Museum and Heritage Centre in Capreol. I use to play on one of these when I was a young girl.

A photo shoot I did years ago of various wood items. (Hand-made eagle sculpture from Ukraine, my own artistic creation with two faces and a skull, a Ukrainian box and a wooden pepper mill.)

Close-up of my faces sculpture.

What marvellous pictures! My grandmother had a Pianola with a roll of music in it like that.

Interesting history in these images Olga. Also interesting to see a Killarney over there. We have one in the SW of our state. Irish roots.

This is what I found about the origins of its name.
“Etienne Augustin de la Morandiere established a fur trade post here in 1820. The Ojibway had named the area Shebahonaning, “canoe passage,” in reference to the channel, but the community was later named Killarney after a town in Ireland.”

Definitely some Irish roots in their small population. 🙂

Nice selection of subjects 🙂 I think the first boat could be ‘not quite still made’ of wood 😉 I really love the two sculptural shots!
