Laughingly
Wishing to be twenty
Fearless and gutsy
Money didn’t matter
Living like a madhatter
Art was my feast
To tame the beast
Aging wasn’t a worry
There was no hurry
Then life stepped in
I couldn’t win
Now I sing
Flying with one wing
A little of this. A little of that.

Certainly are, Marissa. I can fly again. Freedom of retirement. 🙂

Nice rhyme. I can’t fly, but I would think flying with one wing must be frustrating.

Thanks, Frank. I’m usually not a rhymer, but it just flowed. Actually, I was euphimistically referring to a bad knee that keeps me from photographic journeys into the wilds. 🙂

This reminds me of how I still want to be–a twenty year old spirit in the body of–well, never mind–a retired, senior citizen. Ah, you too, I see in comments. Let’s keep flying, girl.

Thank-you, Victoria. I still keep flying, but maybe not as high. 🙂

Fly higher, make the sky yours!
Life, to short to ponder
On missed opportunities.
Grab it by its horns, but
Continue to share it
As you already do
In your poetry, write on,
Olga, write on!

I know, life always steps in. I like the way you led that. If we live through the indestructible teens, and twenties, life checks in. I’m glad for it now

It’s easier to live without having the need for speed, and the desire to take life to the limit

I’m going to be young for a long time is what my roommate said to me when we were about 22. I wonder what she’s thinking now. 🙂

Thank-you for the thought, Victoria. At that age, we do have a different perspective on aging. Can’t stop the flow of time. 🙂

How dare our bodies get in the way of our exuberance! Great final line which acted as the key to the entire poem. Very nice!

Thank-you for the wonderful comment. Yes, how dare our bodies clip our wings. At least, I have one wing. Ha ha! 🙂

Flying is as much internal as it is external 😉 Keep flapping that one wing though.

So true, Paul. Imagination can help one soar to great heights. I’m still flapping. Ha ha! 🙂

We are forever the child inside! One-wing flying is a bit of a challenge, but quite gratifying nonetheless!
