Turned a corner on the drive to Jasper National Park and started tingling with a sense of awe. This was one of the first sightings of many magnificent peaks. I hadn’t been to the Rocky Mountains since I was a teen.

“You are not in the mountains. The mountains are in you.” (John Muir)

“Inspiration awakens us to new possibilities by allowing us to transcend our ordinary experiences and limitations.”

Final destination. The gorge at Athabasca Falls. Moving waters churn below the layers of ice and eroded rock. I stand above and I am mesmerized with wonder.

We loved our visit too, although it was in the summer and we obviously had no snow (except in the Anthabaska ice fields). I especially love the image of the water running through the shards of ice Olga!

Thank-you, Tina. Interesting that you’ve been there also. You’re quite the traveler. I’d like to go there again in warmer weather. The falls was completely frozen, except for the water in the gorge.

How wonderful! Your photos are spectacular and the quotes fit perfectly. I love the one about the mountains being in you. That’s exactly how it feels in such country.

I distinctly remember a trip out west, travelling along the highway and then turning a curve with the mountains in full view. It brought tears to my eyes. Welcome.

I like all the photos and love the last 2. Saw pink snow (caused by algae) in the Colorado Rockies long ago. Is the green snow something similar?

Thank-you, Mellow. I enhanced the contrast on those sunlight peaks. The original light yellow from the sun and blue from the sky turned to hints of green. Color mixing in nature. No not green snow. Happy that you liked my photos. ❤ Pink snow is interesting. 🙂
