Pre-Dawn Trance

(Somewhere… the aves are hiding in those branches.)

***

Sleeps eludes me again

Lured to my balcony oasis

In this warming season

Here, sitting in pre-dawn darkness

I am at peace

*

Soon the serenade will begin

Hidden from sight

An orchestra of songbirds

Will entrance my senses

To my daily delight

*

Time stands still

Thoughts crumble

I am hypnotized

Until twilight reveals itself

And the sun radiates a new day

Songbirds fill the air

With symphony of voices

Hearkening new day

(Hills in the distance from my balcony.)

*

(Sun catches balcony railing.)

At least you are making the best of your insomnia. Just makes me miserable. Inspiring words, love the photos.

You too. Noooo! I was miserable in the winter months. Thanks, V.J. By the way, I wanted to latch up with your challenge of speaking 30 minutes or more on a topic (internal dialogue on the poetic process ), but I couldn’t find the challenge anywhere, not even in your categories, so I changed the direction of this post. No worries. I still like the way it turned out. Also missed out on your “threes” last week because I didn’t get a link from doing “peripheral”. Just to let you know.

Oh no! Things are not working properly…although, it could be my head. I’ll do some investigation.
If I sleep well one night a week, I’m doing well. It’s so frustrating. I usually just lie in bed, not wanting to disturb my husband or the dogs. Cranky making stuff.

I love the sunrise and the morning serenade. It’s unfortunate that insomnia brought you there. I bet you have seen some incredible storms from that balcony.

Beautiful view! I too love the birds waking me. One of my favorite parts of spring. (K)
