V.J. prompt this week is to explore walking in someone else’s skin or to see something from a new perspective.
Let me introduce you to my sister.
Some may think we’re twins, but we are very different.
She is usually the calm one, walking the given path.
I am the risk-taker, the passionate one, changing direction as it suits me.
She thinks she knows it all, but I know nothing. I’m still learning.
I thrive on spontaneity. If I see an open window, I jump right in.
We work in the kitchen together. She does the cooking, and I create the recipes. We work well together, until I step in and add an extra ingredient. She starts to panic, and curses me for changing the rules.
Enough about us. I tend to have my head in the clouds and have forgotten my manners.
I must introduce us by name.
My name is Destiny and this is my sister, Fate.
V.J.’s Challenge: Point of View
ah but loving your fate can be difficult at times ….

So true, Anthony. Fate needs to take some lessons from Destiny. 🙂

This is so inspired, Olga! When I got to the end, I had to go back and read it again – how true it is. Well done!

Thank-you, V.J. I was inspired by reading about the difference between the two terms. We tend to think they are the same. The rest came from the top of my head like an exploding volcano. Ha ha!

Very cool exploding volcano you offered here. I so like how you chose to place them together in the kitchen, or … did they place themselves?

I think the kitchen was an interesting way to hint at how Destiny can suddenly change the recipe for life that we are following, throw in an unexpected ingredient and change the flavor of the moment. My muse was working overtime for this one. She definitely placed them in that scene. Ha ha!

I enjoy how you describe Destiny as suddenly changing the recipe of life… I smile at your muse.

Fascinating poem! Olga, you make their characters and the contrast between them tangible, visible. The last line is so suggestive! Thanks for sharing that.

Thank-you, Paul. Happy that you connected with my character descriptions. I’m grateful to my muse for suggesting the kitchen scene. While Fate is busy cooking up life, Destiny is observing and may throw in a new ingredient at any time. 🙂

Fate and destiny are a riddle. I found it interesting to try to describe the difference in their personalities as if they were human. 🙂
