Character emerges
Through the twists and turns of life
Shining bright
Unwavering
Soul’s gift to self
Baseline of all actions
Strength in doing what’s right
Overpowering shadows of past mistakes
A watchful sentinel
A warrior for all that is good in humanity
Even when storm waves surge
“Character is doing the right thing when nobody is looking.” (J.C. Watts)
the title photo is fascinating…

Beautiful poem, Olga. I love, ‘Soul’s gift to self, Baseline of all actions’ beautiful and powerful lines. That quote at the end is also so true. Love it. ❤ xx

Thank-you for your wonderful comment, Vashti. This piece was a statement of how things should be. Doing what it right is sadly elusive in the world these days. I was watching news footage of what is happening in Yemen and was very disturbed.

You’re right. And in some cases people praise the bad instead of the good. What’s happening in Yemen is horrific. A famine and children dying of ancient diseases, in this day and age is surreal. 😦

Thank-you, Irene. Too many have a need to be recognized for the good that they think they are doing. Silent kindness from the heart is more gratifying to the soul. Happy that you enjoyed my photo. It was a magnificent tree to work with. 🙂

What an amazing photo. I like the parallel of the photo and words…that scene would exist whether we saw it or not. (K)

Thanks, Kerfe. Yes, trees are silent sentinels that don’t require our presence.
