Certainly is. A celebration of all that is eerie and ghastly, thrown in with some cute costumes and a day to make candy manufacturers happy.

Actually, I enjoyed Halloween. Probably very different than your high school experience. Some schools had special activities for all the primary area, I would usually wear a costume (witch was my choice) and make-up to match. If I was in a long-term contract, we’d have an afternoon party with spot dancing to Halloween music. It was fun. 🙂

Somehow we need to scare ourselves and let the dark side out occasionally…must be a way to balance. (K)

I love it, Olga. A few years ago, I wrote a paper in college about Halloween and how celebrating the pagan holiday allows us to be whatever we want for just one day! We get to embrace that inner darkness that is always balanced with our light. It’s a stress reliever! Of course, now for me, this holiday is about celebrating our ancestors. Look for fairy activity… as the veil thins, they like to tease. (trick or treat) ❤

Thank-you, Colleen. Intriguing way to celebrate Halloween night. I’d be a bit too skittish to explore otherworldly activity as the veil thins. Good-luck finding signs of fairy activity.

This whole holiday is weird when you think of it. Especially so, since adults seem to be more involved than the kids. Especially around here. Nice one Olga.

Thank-you, Pat. You’re right about some adults getting more of a kick out of Halloween decorating, etc. I miss the kids knocking on the door and seeing all the costumes. Apartment dwelling has its drawbacks. 🙂

Very good, Olga. It is weird how the ghosts and goblins we so feared as children are now a form of entertainment. It’s even weirder that we try to look like them. Maybe a way of facing our fears?

I agree. Halloween images are very scary and maybe a way of facing our childhood fears. All I know is that when I created this image, it scared the heck out of me.
